CART – Captionist
POSITION SUMMARY: Focus Interpreting is seeking a skilled CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) Captionist to join our team. As a CART Captionist, you will be responsible for providing real-time captioning services to ensure accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide accurate and timely real-time captioning during meetings, presentations, and other live events.
- Utilize CART software and equipment to create clear and readable captions that effectively convey the spoken content.
- Collaborate with clients and event organizers to understand specific needs and tailor captioning services accordingly.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all guidelines regarding sensitive information during captioning sessions.
- Continuously improve captioning skills and stay updated with industry standards and practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in English with exceptional grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
- Experience in CART captioning or a related field preferred.
- Strong typing skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
- Excellent comprehension abilities and the capacity to process spoken language quickly and accurately.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of captioning quality.
