As Creative Director, you will lead the vision, voice, and creative expression of the H&R Block brand across every client touchpoint. This role is about more than delivering campaigns; it’s about building a modern, culturally relevant brand that connects emotionally, earns attention, and drives meaningful business impact. Operating at the intersection of brand strategy, storytelling, innovation, and execution, you’ll turn insights into breakthrough creative platforms, integrated campaigns, and scalable content systems that move the brand forward. You’ll partner closely across Brand Strategy, Go-To-Market, Media, Content, Product, and external agency teams to create cohesive experiences that are as effective as they are unforgettable.   • You’ll work across the full marketing ecosystem, partnering with Brand, GTM, Media, and Product teams

Day to day you'll...

  • Own the creative vision across all marketing, ensuring work is distinctive, high-quality, and aligned to brand strategy
  • Shape and evolve the brand’s creative identity—ensuring it feels modern, distinctive, emotionally resonant, and culturally relevant
  • Lead development of breakthrough campaign concepts and creative platforms that connect with customers, build brand affinity and drive business growth
  • Partner with Brand Strategy and GTM teams to influence briefs, shape narratives, and unlock bold ideas
  • Champion creative excellence across every touchpoint—raising the bar for craft, innovation, consistency, and impact
  • Lead and inspire internal creative teams across design, copy, production, and content development
  • Build a high-performing creative culture rooted in curiosity, collaboration, experimentation, and fearless thinking
  • Guide and manage external agency partners—setting vision, challenging thinking, and ensuring exceptional creative output
  • Develop scalable creative and content systems that enable agile execution across digital, social, retail, lifecycle, and emerging platforms
  • Ensure creative is audience-first, platform-native, and optimized to perform across the full customer journey
  • Foster deep cross-functional collaboration to deliver integrated marketing experiences that feel seamless and unified across the enterprise

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in creative leadership, advertising, or brand marketing
  • Proven experience leading integrated marketing campaigns that drive both cultural relevance and business results
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary creative teams across design, copy, production, and content
  • Experience building strong partnerships with external agencies and creative collaborators
  • Deep understanding of storytelling, brand systems, content strategy, and modern consumer behavior
  • Ability to balance long-term brand building with performance-driven marketing goals
  • Strong influencing, communication, and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, highly collaborative, and evolving environment
  • A builder’s mindset with the ability to lead through transformation and inspire teams through change

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Experience leading creative for a nationally recognized or multi-channel consumer brand
  • Background working across both in-house and agency-side creative environments
  • Demonstrated success developing distinctive brand platforms and breakthrough campaigns
  • Experience building scalable content systems across digital, social, and retail channels
  • Experience evolving or modernizing a brand’s creative identity or visual system

Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
