Environmental Scientist
Farnsworth Group is a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm, seeking an Environmental Scientist. In this role, you will perform field investigations, research environmental permitting, and compose regulatory documents while cultivating strong client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Performing field investigations to delineate and map wetlands, perform environmental compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report environmental conditions to design engineers
- Researching and completing environmental permitting at the federal, state, and local levels
- Composition of a variety of regulatory documents including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Best Management Practice (BMP) Plans
- Cultivating strong client relationships
- Working with project teams, technical staff, and subcontractors
Skills
- BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related discipline
- 0-5 years of environmental related experience, field experience a plus
- Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro
- Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act, etc.)
- Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
- Computer proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be willing to travel for fieldwork on short notice
- Must have a valid driver's license
