[Remote] Accounting Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Black 17 Media is a rapidly expanding internet record label and publishing company at the forefront of the music industry. They are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who will support the monthly close process, lead revenue and royalty accounting, and help maintain strong financial controls across multiple business units.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and cash activity
- Analyze digital revenue reports from DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, TikTok, etc.)
- Support royalty accounting and artist statement preparation
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Support external audits and tax compliance by preparing schedules and documentation
- Investigate variances and unusual transactions across revenue stream
- Partner with Executive, Operations, Business Affairs, Publishing, and third party teams on financial reporting initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows through automation and process improvements
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 - 10 years of public accounting or industry accounting experience
- CPA license
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working in a start-up, remote environment
- Experience with ERP systems, and ability to navigate new systems and software
- Exposure to music, entertainment, media, or royalty accounting
- Familiarity with large data exports and reconciliation of third-party reporting
- History with process automation and data integrity projects
