[Remote] Database Administration Technician

Tucker-Reeves Associates is seeking a Database Technician to help support a Federal Program within the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The role involves conducting routine database administration tasks, working as part of a team to maintain complex databases, and assisting with database planning and engineering.
Responsibilities
- A Database Administration Technician has experience in conducting routine database administration tasks, logging data in database admin logs, and operating under the supervision of a Database Administrator
- Work as part of a team to maintain and implement one or more complex databases under the guidance of a lead
- Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases
- Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Equivalent and 5 total years of experience; or 13 total years of experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of experience with Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of a RDMS such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Ability to design and develop SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data under the guidance of a lead
- Experience working within a team-oriented, collaborative, agile environment
- Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to manage multi-discipline triage calls
- Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle in a team-oriented, collaborative, agile environment
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- You must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Oracle preferred
- Familiarity with database partitioning and microservices
- Familiarity with Cloud-native database solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and DynamoDB
- Experience with tools such as ServiceNow, GitHub, Jira
