[Remote] Human Resources Specialist - Remote Temporary/PRN

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) offers comprehensive emergency management services and is seeking a Temporary Human Resources Specialist. This role provides HR support across various functions, focusing on talent acquisition, employee relations, and compliance to enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities for assigned positions
  • Partner with hiring managers to schedule interviews and facilitate candidate selection processes
  • Manage applicant tracking system activities, including posting jobs, screening candidates, and maintaining candidate records
  • Conduct pre-employment processes, including background checks, employment verifications, and offer documentation
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition into the organization
  • Maintain recruitment metrics and provide hiring status updates
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns
  • Assist with employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting cases, and partnering with HR leadership on resolutions
  • Support performance management processes, including coaching conversations, corrective actions, and employee documentation
  • Promote positive employee engagement and a respectful workplace culture
  • Administer and track employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, parental leave, and other company leave programs
  • Communicate leave requirements, timelines, and documentation needs to employees and managers
  • Coordinate with third-party leave administrators and benefits vendors as needed
  • Ensure leave records are maintained accurately and confidentially
  • Respond to employee questions regarding benefit plans, enrollment, eligibility, and life event changes
  • Process benefits-related transactions and maintain accurate records in HR systems
  • Support open enrollment activities, employee communications, and benefits education efforts
  • Coordinate with benefits vendors to resolve employee issues and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data
  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and record retention activities
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and analyses as requested
  • Support special HR projects and initiatives

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Years of experience can be substituted on a year for year basis
  • 2+ years of human resources experience, preferably supporting multiple HR functions
  • 1+ years experience with recruitment, employee relations, leave administration, and benefits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with candidates and hiring managers
  • Ability to manage multiple recruitment activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, remote work environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requisitions and competing deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining candidate records and recruitment documentation
  • Customer service skills with a professional, responsive, and candidate-focused approach
  • Ability to conduct effective phone screens and assess candidate qualifications against job requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams) and the ability to quickly learn new HR and recruiting software
  • Strong internet research and candidate sourcing skills utilizing job boards, LinkedIn, and other recruiting resources
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment
  • Proven experience working in government or disaster response sectors. Knowledge of the emergency management field is a plus
  • 5+ years experience in Human Resources
  • 1+ years experience with leave management and ADA/FMLA compliance
  • 1+ years experience in a fast-paced corporate, manufacturing, healthcare, or retail environment
  • 1+ years experience supporting large employee populations and multiple locations
