[Remote] Senior Accountant - Medicaid
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Humana is a leading U.S. healthcare company looking for a Senior Accountant to join their Accounting Team supporting the Medicaid line of business. The role involves participating in the month-end close process for multiple Medicaid plans, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and providing financial insights.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries using data extracted from the data warehouse through coding or query-based processes
- Record, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting policies and principles
- Administer designated provider and vendor payment processes
- Provide financial support through forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and review of financial performance against budget
- Present financial results, insights and important variance explanations to market partners
- Support State reporting requirements, audit inquiries, and market needs
- Support IT-related projects
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a finance-related area
- 3 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or as an IT programmer
- Prior SQL or coding experience
- Health insurance or Medicaid experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active pursuit of CPA certification
