[Remote] Senior Backend Engineer

Sapient Search is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join an early stage, venture backed technology company building a complex enterprise platform from the ground up. In this role, you will design scalable backend systems, influence technical architecture, and help shape the future of the product.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
- Build reliable, high performance distributed systems and data pipelines
- Design secure multi tenant backend architecture with strong data isolation
- Collaborate closely with product, frontend, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver production ready solutions
- Drive architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to a strong engineering culture
Skills
- 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Strong experience designing and building scalable distributed systems
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java
- Experience with API design, backend architecture, and data modeling
- Experience integrating with third party platforms, enterprise systems, or internal tooling
- Experience working in cloud native environments and modern backend architectures
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to solve complex technical problems
