Remote Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer

Our client, a forward-thinking organization dedicated to maintaining impeccable standards, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join their fully remote team. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive EHS programs across all operational facets. As a remote-first company, we rely on strong digital collaboration tools and proactive communication to ensure the highest levels of safety and environmental compliance. You will play a key role in shaping and upholding our commitment to a safe and sustainable workplace. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage company-wide EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Conduct regular risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential environmental, health, and safety hazards. Oversee incident investigations, including accident and near-miss reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions. Develop and deliver engaging EHS training programs for employees at all levels. Manage the company's emergency preparedness and response plans. Conduct regular site audits and inspections (remotely and potentially on-site as needed) to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation, including permits, inspection reports, and training logs. Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into all operational activities and project planning. Stay abreast of current EHS legislation, industry best practices, and emerging trends. Advise management on EHS matters and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Manage EHS data and reporting, preparing regular performance metrics for senior leadership. Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and third-party auditors. Develop and manage EHS budgets and resources effectively. Champion a strong EHS culture throughout the organization, promoting employee engagement and accountability. Oversee waste management programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety management. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EHS regulations. Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Experience with EHS management systems and software. Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, ASP) is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to conduct effective risk assessments and incident investigations. Experience in developing and delivering training programs. Strong collaboration and influencing skills. Familiarity with remote auditing techniques and digital communication platforms. Commitment to fostering a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving remote work setting.
