[Remote] Senior Software Engineer

Croutch & Associates partners with innovative AI and software startups, and they are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for a rapidly growing technology company. This role involves owning large portions of the product lifecycle, focusing on both frontend and backend development, and contributing to AI-powered product features that serve millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on AI-powered product features alongside Product Managers, AI specialists, and engineering teams
- Build products that serve millions of users while preparing systems for future scale
- Lead frontend development efforts and deliver exceptional user experiences using modern web technologies
- Develop scalable backend systems and services that support rapid product growth
- Partner cross-functionally to scope, prioritize, and execute product initiatives
- Utilize AI tools throughout the development lifecycle including planning, architecture, coding, debugging, testing, and code reviews
- Contribute strategic thinking around AI capabilities, limitations, and product applications
- Help establish engineering best practices and technical standards as the company grows
Skills
- 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong experience building production-grade web applications
- AI workflow and mindset with demonstrated use of AI tools to increase engineering velocity and effectiveness
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf, or similar platforms
- Ability to articulate how AI has impacted development workflows, productivity, and engineering output
- Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript
- Strong backend development experience using Python
- Experience designing and consuming APIs
- Strong understanding of SQL and PostgreSQL
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance technical decisions against user needs
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York
- Experience with Firebase
- Experience with Flask
- Startup experience at an early-stage or venture-backed company
- Experience supporting products with large-scale user traffic
- Experience collaborating with AI Product Managers, Applied AI teams, or Machine Learning Engineers
- Experience building AI-powered user-facing product features
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment practices
