Short-Form Video Editor (Hook-Focused) for Premium Wellness Brand
About the role We're a premium women's health supplement brand building out short-form video for organic and paid social. We're looking for a short-form video editor who lives and breathes hooks and retention. Our goal is simple: videos that stop the scroll and hold attention. The hook is the job. We care less about flashy transitions and more about the first frame, the first two seconds, pacing, captions, and watch-through. If you understand why people keep watching (or don't), you're who we want. Our brand is premium and editorial (think Aēsop meets modern science). The edits should feel elevated and native to the feed at the same time. Never cheap, never frantic, but never boring. What you'll do - Edit short-form videos (roughly 10 to 40 seconds) for Instagram Reels, Stories, and Facebook. - Build strong hooks: opening frame, first-line text, and pacing that earns the next second. - Source and suggest b-roll and stock footage, and tell us which product/lifestyle clips are worth filming ourselves. - Add captions, sound design, and music that fit the brand. - Produce multiple hook variations of the same video for testing, and iterate based on performance. What we're looking for - A reel of short-form edits that clearly hook in the first 1 to 2 seconds. Ecommerce, DTC, wellness, or beauty a big plus. - Real understanding of retention: why viewers drop off and how to keep them. - Ability to source b-roll and stock, not just cut footage we hand over. - Clean, on-brand taste. Elevated, not loud. - Fast turnaround and comfort producing variations for testing. Nice to have - Ability to write or pitch your own hooks and angles, not just execute ours. - Light motion graphics or animated text. - Familiarity with what performs on Meta specifically. Deliverables - Finished vertical videos (9:16) with captions and sound, source files included. - 2 to 3 hook variations per concept for testing.
