Temp (7+ yrs) Biotech Procurement Specialist (FULLY REMOTE)

We are looking for an experienced (7+ yrs) Procurement Specialist to *REMOTELY* support a biotech organization in the health pharm/biotech sector based in NYC. This fully remote opportunity is a long-term contract position and is ideal for someone who brings deep experience managing outsourced biopharmaceutical services across manufacturing, technical operations, and related supply categories. The role calls for a strategic individual who can lead sourcing initiatives, negotiate complex agreements, and build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for outsourced biopharmaceutical services, from initial request planning through supplier award and onboarding.
• Manage competitive bidding processes, including preparing solicitation documents, evaluating commercial proposals, and guiding vendor selection decisions.
• Negotiate contract terms, pricing structures, and service expectations to secure favorable business outcomes while reducing risk.
• Oversee supplier relationships across categories such as drug substance, drug product, fill/finish, packaging, and device-related services.
• Partner closely with business teams to understand operational needs and translate them into effective procurement strategies.
• Conduct bid analysis and present clear recommendations to leadership based on cost, capability, quality, and delivery considerations.
• Support outsourcing initiatives tied to manufacturing and technical operations with a strong focus on continuity, compliance, and value.
• Monitor supplier performance and address service, delivery, or contractual issues to maintain reliable external partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an emphasis in biotech/pharma, life sciences, outsourcing, supplier management, or business partnering.
• 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred, including at least 5 years of direct end-to-end biotech/pharma CMC outsourcing or procurement experience.
• Experience with the procure-to-pay (P2P) process and working within a P2P system required; Coupa experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting CMC programs and working knowledge of GMP preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Highly team oriented and comfortable collaborating across cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to drive supplier oversight, performance management, and relationship management with external suppliers and service providers.
• Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of a rapidly growing biotech company.
• Strong understanding of the supply chain lifecycle.
