Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer – Remote Opportunity for Recent Graduates in Power Delivery and Substation Design

We are now seeking an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department in a hybrid role that offers the flexibility to work from home and our office in Hailey, Idaho. Job Summary We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to fill the role of an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the department in achieving its goals, maintaining our high-quality standards, and promoting internal teamwork to meet the needs of our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience in electrical engineering to launch their careers and grow with our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations, including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, station physical layouts, and other related tasks
  • Develop and review design documents, such as sections/elevations, cable and conduit plans, ground grid design, foundation plans, structural plans, control enclosure design, lightning protection plans, and yard lighting plans
  • Prepare bills of materials, conduct site visits, and support QA/QC for deliverables to clients
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external client personnel to ensure effective communication and project delivery
  • Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, or training sessions Required Education and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) from an accredited university, preferably with a power option
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles and concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship Desired Education and Experience While not required, the following qualifications are desirable
  • 3 months of relevant electrical engineering work experience, which could be on an internship or co-op basis
  • A minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design
  • Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam Skill and Competency Requirements To succeed in this role, you must possess
